What Should You know About PCL And ACL Injury?

Our knee is probably the most overused part of our body. We use it every single day without any fail and this also increases the risk of injury. It is also the most flexible part of our body with the other being our shoulder. To increase the flexibility of a joint certain function and strength will have to decrease, making it more prone to injuries. We will be focusing on the posterior circulating ligament (PCL) and then ACL.

The main role of the PCL is to prevent posterior translation of the tibia on the femur.  It also helps to provide rotation stability and axis control function to the knee. Due to its less common nature, injuries to the PCL are usually not managed properly and thus, and thus lead to the poor clinical outcomes. But a PCL treatment in Delhi is not uncommon. Injuries to the PCL are often accompanied by the injuries to the surrounding tissues. There are 3 different grades for PCL injuries and they range from grade 1 to grade 3 depending on the severity.

A grade 1 sprain is minor. And ligaments are only slightly injured. There are not many complications involved and the ligament is still able to fully perform its stabilizing function. A grade 2 injury is the partial tear of the PCL and this will cause the ligament unable to be regenerated, a graft will be required and this is often taken from the hamstring. The patients will need to undergo physiotherapy to build up surrounding muscles to allow them to help shoulder share some of the loads.
Anterior Cruciate ligament that is ACL rupture is the most common sports related injuries that often occur when the leg is forcefully twisted or hyper-extended. The young sports person who participates in sports like soccer, football, skiing, rugby and basketball are more likely to injure their ACL. ACL with three other ligaments holds the knee joint and proves stability to the knee. Collateral ligaments are located on the sides of your knee and control the sideways motion of your knee, While cruciate ligaments control the back and forth motion of the knee.
ACL injury can be described as a debilitating musculoskeletal injury to the knee makes it unstable and you need ACL treatment in DelhiThe ACL injury normally occurs along with damage to the knee parts, such as articular cartilage, meniscus or other ligaments. The injury can be divided into three grades on severity scale. In grade 1 the ligaments gets slightly stretched but still have the potential to keep the knee joint stable. In Grade 2 the ligament gets so stretched that it becomes loose. And in third grade the ligament gets split into two pieces and loses its ability to control knee movement and rotation.
